Sanctuaria

Sanctuaria is a visual narrative that explores animal sanctuaries as spaces of repair, where care and empathy invite us to reconsider our relationship with the environment and propose creative ways to restore the balance lost through the degradation of animals and their habitats.

The project unfolds as a circular journey that begins and ends in a Pyrenean forest constantly threatened by hunting activity. This forest becomes both origin and destination, a primal sanctuary that reveals the fragility of ecosystems and the need for protection. Along this path, Sanctuaria connects different spaces of refuge—sanctuaries, shelters, and feral cat colonies—where human care offers not only repair, but also the possibility of a second life, partially healing the wounds caused by the very system that made them necessary.

Developed in Spain since 2020, the project reflects a long-term engagement with these spaces and the stories they hold, placing the idea of second chances at its core.
