This picture is a tribute to the strength and determination of young female boxers in Tanzania. I photographed Warda, 18, one of the youngest boxers in her country, immediately after her training session in an outdoor courtyard in Mburahati, Dar es-Salaam. Later, I applied gold leaf patterns to the print—symbols of power and radiance inspired by boxing’s visual language. For me, this transformation elevates her presence to something almost divine. Through this image of Warda, I honor her resilience and story, and celebrate the broader fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment in Tanzania.
