Straight out the hood is a long term documentary look at the dark and unseen side of the street, from rough areas to poor neighbourhoods...
In this series, and as a photojournalist, I strive to showcase the gritty reality of life on the streets, shedding light on people on the margins of society, gang members, homeless and drugs addict. Through my work, I seek to inspire empathy and understanding for those who often go unnoticed or ignored, and aim to challenge the viewer's preconceptions and highlight the resilience and strength of those who persevere in the face of adversity.
I am driven by the belief that images can be a powerful tool for social change and can facilitate important conversations about the most pressing issues of our time to raise awareness and educate. I want to help by breaking down stereotypes and promote better understanding, but also reflect on important issues such as poverty, street violence, humanitarian crisis, social justice and human rights.
The selected photographs presents gang members in Los Angeles (USA), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Paris (France) and the mafia in Naples (Italy)
