Who are we when we are not ourselves?

My personal work revolvs around themes like transformation, impermanence and contingency. I usualy associate words with my series. Here are two poems that where attached to some of my series.

Wandering worlds

Sometimes something moves in our peripheral vision, a tenuous shift or movement, that prompts us to seek an obvious cause, confirmation that something has indeed happened.
This groping, or search for a manifestation that is digestible for our mind, can lead us, for one step too many, through a veil; that of a certainty that is far too firm as to what is, or what is not.
Perhaps if we turn our gaze quickly enough, the world will not have been able to recompose itself in time.
If we linger a while in this gap, then it may be that these worlds we know nothing about, these wandering worlds, will open up to us.

Epitaph

To the sentinels of rest
Who with their eyes watch
Over our still bodies
And all that we have been

They cannot be seen
but as they look at us, They
appear to us only for a moment
As impassive guardians,
Then return without a word
To their perpetual watch.
