The Ganges River is not just a watercourse, but a sacred and vital symbol for millions of people. Venerated as a deity, it is at the center of Hindu spirituality: immersing oneself in its waters means purifying oneself from sins. Its banks, in sacred cities such as Varanasi and Haridwar, are places of prayer, rituals and daily meditation.
In addition to its religious value, the Ganges is fundamental to daily life: it provides water for drinking, irrigation and living. Despite pollution, it remains a spiritual, cultural and practical point of reference for the entire population.
