Life and Death - Mexican Rhapsody
In Mexico the mourning is exhibited with sounds, dances and colors, but also with disturbing masks and presences. Sacred and profane touch each other, just like life and death, until they become one.Tradition wants that the deceased return from the underworld to embrace their friends in the Dìa de los Muertos. There are those who spend the whole night on the tombs or parading in processions with carnival masks. After all, the saying goes: “to die laughing”. The expression is the proof that men laugh to ward off the death. The death, not the dead. The dead ones, instead, are closer than ever.
