The Promised Night

The Promised Night is an intimate, therapeutic journey into the heart of the night—a realm where solitude and silence become a canvas for the deepest emotions. I grew up in a small Venezuelan village where darkness was met with reverence: stories of venomous snakes, ghosts, and spirits colored every sunset. Now living in the Belgian countryside, my nocturnal walks unfold between moonless blackness and silvery full moons, evoking a childhood déjà-vu—those first tremors of fear intertwined with lunar beauty.

I recreate that dense, mystical atmosphere through empty, dimly lit landscapes where isolation takes shape. Animals appear as silent guides, pure and instinctive, reminding me that fear must be faced, not ignored. One night, paralyzed by darkness, I realized my fear wasn’t external—it lived inside me.

The “promise” is that after walking through darkness and confronting inner ghosts, a light of relief and hope will emerge. Each photo invites viewers to dwell in the silence and discover, within it, the possibility of reconciliation.
