Resonance of Concrete

Resonance of Concrete

This series brings together two iconic landmarks – the spiraling parking ramp of ICC Berlin, designed by Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte (1979), and the layered terraces of Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli in Milan, created by Herzog & de Meuron (2016). All images were photographed exclusively with the iPhone.

Across eight black-and-white photographs, Resonance of Concrete explores concrete as sculptural material and poetic surface. The sequence begins with Milan’s rational clarity and luminous shadowplay, then flows into the kinetic force of Berlin’s brutalist helix. Geometry, rhythm, and void unfold as visual meditations, oscillating between stillness and movement.

No people appear. The images focus on surface, light, and the silent memory of use. Each frame distills structure into atmosphere – a tactile resonance of architecture. Through shifting perspectives, the viewer is invited to walk these spaces with their eyes: tracing a choreography of tension and release, volume and absence.

The series is both homage and abstraction – a dialogue between structure and vision, memory and material, hand and eye.
