Bronze Medal
Over the past two years, I have traveled across various landfill sites in Poland, capturing the sprawling landscapes of waste that grow with alarming speed. Each image provides a view of the sheer magnitude of trash piling higher and spreading wider. I aim to confront viewers with an unsettling reality: waste is not hidden, but omnipresent. The abstract beauty of the patterns formed by the piles of trash contrasts sharply with the grim truth they represent. As the project progresses, the images become more claustrophobic, depicting a world where refuse dominates the frame, mirroring a future where waste could consume our planet entirely. This project is a call to action - a visual reminder that our choices today shape tomorrow’s landscapes. It urges us to reconsider consumption, embrace sustainability, and recognize that beneath these mountains of trash lies the cost of ignoring the limits of our finite world.
